WXYZ: Radio Music Director starting in 1945. Eventually, station programming management.
A musician, orchestra leader, and radio/television musical director. He was already well established in Detroit before joining WXYZ.
In the early 1940s he led the Phil Brestoff Orchestra at Detroit’s Michigan Theatre. His orchestra also appeared at other major theaters and venues.
Phil was married to Dee Parker in 1947. Parker eventually became known on Detroit television as “Auntie Dee” and appeared on WXYZ-TV.

It Is understood that Benny Ryte, who has been musical director of the station for several years, is resigning but will continue to handle the Children’s heater of the Air.
