Dana Bash

CNN: Reporter

She joined CNN’s Washington, D.C. bureau in 1993 immediately after graduating from George Washington University. She famously worked her way up from the very bottom of the network ladder, holding the following behind-the-scenes roles before ever appearing on camera:

  • Library Assistant: Her first paid job, where she managed tape archives.
  • Associate Producer and Editor: Helping plan the network’s coverage of Capitol Hill and the State Department.
  • Show Producer: Producing long-form political interviews for public affairs programs like Inside Politics Weekend and Late Edition.
She was eventually promoted to an on-air reporting role as a White House correspondent during the George W. Bush administration, making her a rare example of a major network anchor who grew entirely within a single global news organization.
