In 2022, she was elevated to the station’s primary evening anchor position alongside Roop Raj, replacing longtime anchors Huel Perkins and Monica Gayle. She anchored the 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts.
She is an Emmy-winning journalist. One of her early Emmy wins was for her coverage of Michigan’s crackdown on synthetic drugs.
Former WJBK-TV (Fox 2 Detroit) lead anchor Taryn Asher is currently locked in a federal lawsuit and contract dispute alleging gender discrimination and retaliation after her termination in late 2025
