WWJ: News Anchor

“Very sorry to learn of the FIRING of longtime News Radio 95 anchor Roberta Jasina. The bean counters are once again silencing a veteran of the Detroit media who has served Detroit radio listeners faithfully for more than 34-years. She was there loyally for all of us listeners and WWJ radio every morning through all the good days and bad. It’s too bad her employer now fails to honor that personal and professional loyalty.” Facebook, Erik Smith, August 19, 2022

I feel a huge personal loss over Roberta Jasina being let go. I’ve listened to her for decades when I moved to Detroit and used various resources just to hear her voice when I lived in Chicago and the New York City area. She is a pro’s pro. Often said to my friends whenever she retires, I’ll bet the station will throw a huge party for her and she will be shocked at the 10’s of thousands of listeners who would show up just to thank her for being a part of their everyday life. WWJ management or the parent company are absolutely clueless to have handled a Detroit radio icon in such a shabby way. I’ve been involved in thousands of job cuts in my career. And the first goal is to preserve a person’s dignity. Management failed miserably at meeting even the lowest bar of professionalism in how this was handled. Thank you Roberta Jasina. Wish I knew her current email so I could send a note to her personally.
