WXYZ-TV, Detroit, was a pioneer in remote broadcasting during the early 1950’s. Mr. Pharis’s website documents a little bit of history.

Here is MY truck in 1954. It is on a Golf remote in Detroit, Michigan. Owned by WXYZ-TV an ABC affiliate.

“WOW! A lot has changed in 51 years! The truck was taken home in the 70s by one of the engineers who worked in it. He re-painted it, and stripped out the insides. He made a camper out of it. It sat outside for many years and rusted away. As far as I know, there are only two of these TJ-48s left in the world. That is why I am going to completely re-build this one to it’s original condition. YES. this is the EXACT truck in the WXYZ photo above!!!!!” – Chuck Pharis
